High Tech Versus Low Tech

Implants, Magnets, Precision Attachments, Titanium Posts – all very well…

Technology is growing fast in the dental world as in all other sectors and if the cost was going down at the same rate we might be better off.  Its going to be a long time if ever, when the NHS can afford the most highly advanced treatments and to a certain extent the NHS is not able to keep up with technology in any large way.

So NHS is Low Tech when it comes to dentistry. If NHS is Low Tech, which treatments should it offer?  What are the Low Tech treatments:-

  1. Assessment
  2.  Extractions
  3.  Dentures/immediates
  4.  Amalgum fillings
  5.  Additions to dentures
  6. Repairs to Dentures

These treatments should be available cheaply, and    widely any other treatments should be private. 95% of NHS dentures at the present time are not fit for purpose…
