I remember the day well, and it’s a story I have heard quite a few times in the past 20 years “I have been going to the dentist all my life every 6 months and one day he tells me all my teeth need pulling out”.

 How does this scenario happen? – NHS dentistry.  The NHS DENTIST has not actually been doing a great job.  Yes he has looked at the teeth (for a fee), yes he has noticed gum decease is present but has done nothing about it.

 WHY?

 Because he was too busy collecting the NHS fees to worry about long term problems.

 Dentists are in dentistry for the money – we all know that, but when they realise that they have to earn it by serving customers that is when things will change.

 Tell them what to do don’t ask them what to do.

 Structure versus Blow with the Wind.

 If you ever had children, you may agree with the following statement “children need structure” without structure a child will do what he wants to do, namely follow animal instincts to achieve a result.  This result may not fit that well into family life so the parent gives a structure to the child that the parent thinks he or she should follow.

 It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that the structure used in NHS dentistry is badly lacking.

 BLACKMAIL

If and when a system change is needed, the NHS is put in a position of confrontation with dentists who wield all the power and will always dodge, duck and dive around any rules put in place by the unsuspecting Government.  Any change that affects the Dentist’s income, is fought with vigor and compromises are made and patients are disadvantaged as the NHS Dentist changes the rules to enable him to earn more.  This is human nature, Dentists are clever, Dentists are highly trained and motivated to make money.

 The majority of Dentists are only interested in money and not some altruistic reason to improve the nations teeth as maybe some other medical practitioners are.
